Magnifying Glass

A small magnifying glass made of brass. It has an ivory handle and is contained within a small cardboard box. It would have been used by a jeweller and is from the Georgian period.

A model of eskimo hunters, from the Arctic, carved out of bone. The model features two sledges, three canoes, small eskimo figures and dogs. Seals can be seen strapped to the larger sledge.

This is a small tortoiseshell model of a rickshaw. The rickshaw has two wheels and projecting metal handles. A tortoisehell canopy moves to cover the seat.

This is a fragment of an Egyptian Mummy. The bone has been wrapped in papyrus, which bears an inscription in ink, and has then been bound in woven cloth. The bone is possibly part of the forearm.

Netting Gauge

Netting gauge made of a long flat piece of bone with rounded ends, there is a hole pierced at one end. This would have been used to create an even mesh when making netting, such as in lace making.
