Description:Warwickshire and the river Avon, for Shakespeare’s contemporary poet. Polyolbion, the long poem by Shakespeare’s fellow Warwickshireman, Michael Drayton, is illustrated by fanciful engraved maps of the English counties. The spirits of the rivers, including the Avon are shown as part of the county legend, between the main centres of population in Coventry, Warwick and Tamworth.
