Description:Extract of a letter written by Colonel Lacy Yea, serving in the Crimea at the Camp before Sebastopol, to General Wetherall at Horse Guards.
Col. Yea writes that they are in need of Captains but are well-off for boys. He refers to Lieutenant George Henry Waller particularly: "Waller is the merest child to look at with the heart of a Lion". He mentions a specific act of bravery by George during an attack on the Quarries, his never missing duty in the trenches and his receiving a head wound. He finishes: "he will do a good thing or two some day or I am mistaken".
Col. Yea was killed 3 days after this was written, on 18 June 1855, during an unsuccessful attack on the Redan.
He was the commanding officer of the 7th Fusiliers.
