The obverse features the tughra, a calligraphic seal or signature of Abdul Mejid. There is a flower to the right and the denomination is below. From the top down the reverse features the regnal year, the mintmark which reads 'was struck in Misr' (Egypt), and the first year of the reign of Abdul Mejid, 1255 in the Hejira calendar.
