The obverse features the tughra, a calligraphic seal or signature, of Mahmud II with Arabic script to the right. There is a complete wreath around the outer edge. The reverse features the regnal year 25, written in arabic. The Arabic script reads 'was struck in Questantiniyah' (Constantinople). The first year of the reign of Mahmud II, 1223, is below. Surrounding this is a wreath with a dot below and a full wreath around the outer edge.
