English copper medal, c.1887
Diameter 45mm
Medal struck to commemorate the Golden Jubilee celebrations in the County of Warwick. The obverse features the diademed bust of Queen Victoria facing left and the name of 'Heaton', posisbly the designer or engraver. The legend around the outside reads 'VICTORIA D:G: BRITT: IND: ET COLL: REG: ET IMP: F: D', 'Victoria By the Grace of God, Queen and Empress of Britain, India and the Colonies, Defender of the Faith'. The reverse features a shield bearing a Coat of Arms - a saltire bearing five leopards' heads and with four axes in the angles. The name of the Sheriff and the date is on a ring around the shield. The inscription around the outside explains the purpose of the medal.
