Turkish nickel 40 Para, Hejira date 1327 (23 January 1909 - 12 January 1910)

The obverse features the denomination within a central beaded ring which is concave at the top. Around the outside are three sets of Arabic script separated by two five-pointed stars. The first piece of script to the left is the mintname of Constantinople. The date is below within a rectangle, pointed at either end. There is wheat to the right hand side and an unidentified branch, possibly olive to the left. The reverse features two symbols within a central beaded ring. The larger symbol is the tughra, a calligraphic seal or signature, of Muhammad V (1909-1918). The smaller symbol to the right means 'El Ghazi', an honorific title meaning 'The Victorious'. Around the outside are three sets of writing in Arabic separated by two five-pointed stars, and below are the branches as on the obverse, tied at the base with a bow.
