Norwegian silver krone, 1894


Diameter 23mm


The obverse features the bust of Oscar II facing left and the inscription 'OSCAR II NORGES o. SVER. KONGE', 'Oscar II King of Norway and Sweden'. The motto 'BRODERFOLKENES VEL' underneath means 'The Good of the Brother People'. The two inscriptions are divided by two five-pointed stars. The reverse features the National Arms of Norway, a crown above a shield bearing a lion rampant which carries an axe, within a wreath of oak. The denomination is above and the date underneath is divided by two crossed hammers, the mintmark for Kongsberg.
