The obverse features the 'bun head' bust of Queen Victoria facing left. The inscription reads 'VICTORIA D:G: BRITT: REG: F:D:', Latin, abbreviated meaning 'Victoria By the Grace of God Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faith'. The reverse features a crown and the date within a central ring. An outer ring contains a wreath of roses and the inscription 'ONE CENT/NEW BRUNSWICK'.
