English silver threepence, 1680

Diameter 16mm

The obverse features the laureate and draped bust of Charles II facing right and the inscription 'CAROLUS II.DEI GRATIA', Latin abbreviated meaning 'Charles II By the Grace of God'. The reverse features three Cs interlocking with a crown above and the inscription 'MAG.BR.FRA.ET.HIB.REX.1680', Latin abbreviated and following on from obverse inscription, 'King of Great Britain, France and Ireland. 1680'.
