Description:The Paraphrasis of Erasmus

1st page with illuminated initial letter possibly showing the story of Jacob's Ladder.

Originally at Barcheston church.

This was written by Erasmus the Dutch scholar and humanist between 1571 and 1524. His commentary covers the New Testament and was translated by Nicholas Udall. It was first printed in England in 1548 and 1549.

The volume has been rebound and some pages are now missing. It is not known who gave it to Barcheston church.
