Description:Entry in the parish register, Holy Trinity Church, Stratford-upon-Avon, recording the burial of William Shakespeare. He had died two days earlier, aged fifty-two. He is described as a gentleman, then a distinctive title indicating wealth and status and one used by only a handful of his fellow townsmen. The other entry marked with a cross records the burial, on 17 April, of Shakespeare's brother-in-law, William Hart, hatter, who had married Shakespeare's sister, Joan. 'Will Shakspere gent'.
