Date:November 1614 - December 1615 (c.)
Description:On 23 December, Thomas Greene, back in Stratford, made a note in his diary that he had written letters that day to William Shakespeare, both personally and officially on behalf of the Corporation, pointing out the inconveniences that the proposed enclosure would cause. Earlier, on 10 December, he records that he had called at New Place, Shakespeare's Stratford home. A modern translation of the entry for 23 December reads: 'A Council meeting. Letters written to Mr Mainwaring and to Mr Shakespeare signed by most of the council. I also sent on my own behalf to my cousin Shakespeare, the copies of all our oaths made then, also a note of the inconveniences which would result from the inclosure' Shakespeare Birthplace Trust reference: BRU 15/13/26a (v)
