Date:1700 - 1900 (c.)
Description:The almost entirely illegible inscription includes an attribution to Federico Zuccaro (1543-1609). It is highly unlikely that he in fact painted this picture; Shakespeare would have been about ten years old when Zuccaro left England. Identity number SBT 1994-19/66 Sources: Schoenbaum 283, 466-7; Entry on Zuccaro by Catherine Tite in Oxford Companion ed. Wells and Dobson; Information on Zuccaro in Museums Dept.
