Description:This is a detail of an oil painting on canvas depicting a streetscene in Richmond, Yorkshire. This is Harry Pickall, private postman to the Marquis of Zetland in 1847 when this picture was painted by J S Newton. Newton included his father's business in the painting, as over the door on the left is a sign reading 'Newton, Painter, gilder, paper hanger'. Also in the foreground of the painting is Jackie Patterson, the cleaner of the local privies. Framed size Height 732mm, Width 868mm, Depth 45mm
