Description:This is an oil painting on canvas depicting a cock fight. Although cock fighting was made illegal in 1849, fights continued, particularly in remote places. This painting suggests the universiality of cock fighting, with many different types of social class represented by the onlookers. In the corner a policeman enters, perhaps to stop the fight. This was painted by an artist of the English School, around 1850. Framed size Height 760mm, Width 885mm
