Description:This is a Megathem short-wave therapy unit. It was used in physiotherapy treatments at the Royal Pump Rooms, Leamington Spa. The short-wave therapy unit used deep heat to treat parts of the body that were injured, stiff, painful or inflamed. The affected part of the body was placed between two insulated metal plates, a short-wave osscillator was then attached. The waves passed through the electrodes and were absorbed by the body. Heat was then released into the body tissue. Short-wave therapy was used to treat conditions such as arthritis, lumbago and eczema.
