Description:This is a lumbar traction harness. It was used in physiotherapy treatments at the Royal Pump Rooms, Leamington Spa. The harness provided support and tension to a patient's back during lumbar traction treatment for neck and spine problems. During treatment the harness was fastened around the patient's body. The straps were then wound apart to stretch the patient's back and put them into traction. Lumbar traction treatment was a lengthy and uncomfortable process for the patient.
