Description:The Sheldon Tapestry Map of Warwickshire is in the collection of the Warwickshire Museum Service. It measures 5.1 x 3.9 metres and is usually on display at the Market Hall Museum in Warwick. It is the only surviving complete tapestry map from a set commissioned by Ralph Sheldon in the 1580s. The other three maps show Worcestershire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire, and they would all have hung together to create a wonderful panorama of the English Midlands. They were probably woven at the Sheldon tapestry workshop at Barcheston in South Warwickshire. Parts of the other three tapestry maps are in the collection of the Bodleian Library in Oxford.
