Description:On the back of a 1572 lease of a barn and garden in Chapel Lane, a clerk later scribbled down an undated note about the owners of adjoining land. Shakespeare had purchased New Place in 1597 and he is now described as the owner of the land to the north. Shakespeare Birthplace Trust reference: ER 3/1979
