Description:This white metal medal commemorates the three hundredth anniversary in 1864 of Shakespeare's birth. Struck c. 1864 by Ottley of Birmingham.

Shown on the medal's reverse is Shakespeare's Birthplace, which had been purchased for the nation in 1847, with the coat of arms of Stratford-upon-Avon above.
