Description:This is a collage of fabric, watercolour, ink and charcoal on paper depicting an old postman with his donkey and was made by George Smart in 1833. An inscription on the reverse reads 'G. Smart, Artist of Frant near Tunbridge Wells. Cloth and velvet figures to H.R.H. the Duke of Sussex 1833' which was a trade label noting that Smart was patronized by the Duke of Sussex. At the end of the lane is Smart's workshop, which Smart chose to put into his picture. Framed size Height 370mm, Width 310mm, Depth 40mm.
