Description:This is an oil painting on canvas depicting a surprising incident which occurred during an attempt to slaughter a horse in July 1811. The caption at the bottom of the picture describes this as 'An Instance Never Known Before' in which a butcher arrived at a farm in Gloucestershire to kill an old cart horse which managed to get away, and tried to run at the butcher until it was distracted by a mare. It was painted by J Miles from Northleach in Gloucestershire, and is signed. Framed size Height 541, Width 670mm, Depth 40mm
