Description:A bakelite desk calendar made by Datax of London. This calendar may have been used used in the offices of Watsons Scientific Instruments. The top two knobs on the calendar change the date and the second two change the month.
Bakelite became popular in the 1930s, and during in the 1940s it was used to produce radio sets and desk equipment. The wood-effect of bakelite was achieved by introducing wood pulp into the plastic. The maker's mark moulded onto the back of the calendar reads: 'The / 'Datax' Calendox / Registered Trade Mark / Perpetual Calendar / Desk Model No.18 / Made In London'
