German States - Prussian silver 2 1/2 silber groschen, 1843


Diameter 20mm


The obverse features the bust of Friedrich Wilhelm IV facing right and the inscription 'FRIEDR. WILH. IV KOENIG V. PREUSSEN', meaning 'Friedrich Wilhelm IV King of Prussia'. The reverse features the denomination above the date with the mintmark for Berlin, 'A', below. Around the outside the inscription reads '12 EINEN THALER/ SHEIDE MUNZE' meaning that the silber groschen is a fractional coinage and twelve are equal to one thaler.
