German silver 50 pfennig, 1875

Diameter 20mm


The obverse features the coat of arms of the German Empire - an eagle with a crown above bearing a shield on its breast that is surrounded by a medal collar. That shield bears a second crowned eagle which holds a sceptre in its right talon and an orb in its left, it also bears a smaller per cross shield on its breast. To either side of the eagle's tale is a double mintmark, the 'A' for Berlin. The reverse features the denomination and the inscription 'DEUTSCHES REICH 1875', meaning 'German Empire 1875'.
