Description:

Belgian copper centime, 1845

Diameter 17mm

The obverse features the monogram of Leopold I. There is a crown above and the date is below. The inscription reads 'LEOPOLD PREMIER ROI DES BELGES', meaning 'Leopold I King of the Belgians'. The obverse features a lion seated with its paw on the Belgian constitution. Inscribed around the outside is the Belgian national motto 'L'UNION FAIT LA FORCE', meaning 'Strength through Unity'. The denomination is below. At the base is the name of Braemt. F, possibly the designer or engraver.
