Description:

Belgian copper 2 centimes, 1846

Diameter 21mm

The obverse features the monogram of Leopold I with a crown above. The inscription reads 'LEOPOLD PREMIER ROI DES BELGES', 'Leopold I King of the Belgians'. The the date is below. The reverse features a lion guarding the Belgian Constitution of 1831. The inscription 'L'UNION FAIT LA FORCE' translates as 'Strength through Unity'. This is the Belgian national motto. The denomination is below.
