Black and white photograph by Walden Hammond at the Royal Pump Rooms, Leamington Spa.
The photograph shows a woman in a deep aeration pool with a female attendant. The woman who appears to be receiving treatment was a senior member of staff and she is probably training a junior attendant in this picture.
The aeration bath was constructed in 1927. Air was pumped through the water to provide extra buoyancy so that patients could exercise more freely. The ropes around the outside are for the patient to hold on to for extra support.
