Strawberry Cottage
Printed by Charles Joseph Hullmandel (1789-1850) from a drawing by W. Rider, 1 October 1826
350mm x 220mm
View of Strawberry Cottage with a woman and child standing outside. Strawberry Cottage stood on land which is now part of the Jephson Gardens. When the Gardens were first laid out in 1834, the cottage was not included and remained private land. The land was purchased in the 1860s by a committee in charge of erecting a memorial in memory of Dr John Hitchman. The Hitchman Memorial Fountain was erected on the site where Strawberry Cottage had stood.
