This portrait of Dr Henry Jephson was printed and published by Dickson and Co of 114 New Bond Street, London. Dr Henry Jephson (1798-1878) believed strongly in the health benefits of the saline waters in Leamington Spa. He set out new rules for taking and bathing in the waters. Dr Jephson treated many of the wealthier visitors to Leamington, including Princess Victoria, John Ruskin and King George IV. His fame contributed to the popularity of the town.
