The obverse features the bust of Queen Victoria facing left. The inscription reads 'VICTORIA D.G. BRITANNIAR. REGINA F.D', Latin for 'Victoria By the Grace of God Queen of the Britains Defender of the Faith'. The inscription is stopped by a seven-pointed star. Directly under the bust is the mintmark for Heaton, Birmingham ('H'). The reverse features a shield with the three lions of England on it dividing the date. The inscription around the outside reads 'STATES OF JERSEY/ ONE TWELFTH OF A SHILLING'.
