Leamington Grand Steeplechase, 1837, Plate 1
This is one of a series of four colour engravings that depict the Leamington Spa Grand Steeplechase of 1837. The images were created by the artist Francis Calcraft Turner (c.1782-1846), and engraved by Chas Hunt. This is the first image in the series, and it depicts the start of the race. The Leamington Grand Steeplechase, established in 1826, was one of the attractions offered to wealthy visitors.
