Description:This is a patchwork on canvas showing a woman in bed, with seven young babies wrapped beside her. It is made from scraps of cloth by Elizabeth Allen, who made a series of collages that with a serious moral message. This work was inspired by a story she heard on the radio about a woman in South America who had taken a fertility drug and had given birth to seven stillborn babies. Size when stitched onto conservator's fabric: 384 x 476mm
