Description:Metal badge of the Second Warwick Militia featuring a leopard's head. There is a heart shaped metal ribbon attached with forget-me-nots at the top and an inscription around the ribbon.
According to regulations, the Glengarry caps of the infantry have a distinctive regimental badge. The heart-shaped ribbon is suggestive of the heart of England. The leopard's head, crowned, has long been used by the Clerks of the Peace as the county seal. The motto is said to have accompanied a bunch of forget-me-nots given by Henry of Lancaster to John of Navarre, during his absence form his paternal seat of Kenilworth, after the famous tournament at Gosford Green, Coventry. Richard II used a similar flower for a badge, but the origin of the name "forget-me-not" is popularly ascribed to the son of John of Gaunt, who, as Henry IV, subsequently married Joan of Navarre.
