Description:
Black and white photograph by P.W. Thompson inside the Royal Pump Rooms, Leamington Spa, c. 1960.
The photograph shows a man in a shower in the hydrotherapy area. Patients would have showers and walk through a footbath before they entered the therapeutic pool. To the left is a changing cubicle which contained a bed. Once a patient came out of the therapeutic pool they would be wrapped in warm towels and left to lie on the bed for approximately 20 minutes. They would then get dressed and be ready to leave.
