Description:Black and white photograph
Birmingham
19th Century
A view of Christ Church in Birmingham. The photograph is by Thomas Lewis (1844 - 1913).
Lewis opened his first studio in Moor Street in 1871 and a year later moved to Paradise Street. This site proved to be too expensive and the business failed. For five years Lewis worked for Frith & Son but set up business again in 1879. In 1894 he moved to Merton House, 200 Stratford Road. It was at these premises that this photograph was produced.
