Description:This is an oil painting on canvas depicting a view of Skipton, Yorkshire. There is a painted inscription over the castle gatehouse doorway which is the Latin motto of the Clifford family 'DES OR MAIS' which translates as 'Henceforth'. The date 1793 is painted on the pennants flying from Holy Trinity Church tower. It was painted by an artist from the English Provincial School in the early 1800s. Framed size Height 685mm, Width 950mm, Depth 60mm
