Description:Copps's Royal Hotel and Boarding House.

View of a wide road with a low bulding and a taller building to the right and behind. Figures are walking in the street.

Copps’s Royal Hotel was opened by Michael Copps on High Street in 1814. Possibly because of high demand, the hotel was relocated to new and larger premises on the corner of Clemens Street and High Street in 1827. It was demolished in 1847 to make way for the railway bridge over Clemens Street.
