Description:Postcard sent from Jack to Ethel on 21 June 1917. It has a silk mesh insert which is decorated with embroidered garlands of pink flowers with green leaves. "WITH ALL BEST WISHES OF A HAPPY BIRTHDAY" is embroidered in blue. The silk mesh forms a pocket which contains a card printed with a profile view of a young woman wearing a helmet, the French flag, and "Greetings from France". This is known as an insert card.

This card was sent to Ethel May Harrison (nee Tims). She had two brothers, Jack and Fred, who were both killed in action in World War One. They are named on the Leamington Spa War Memorial. They wrote to Ethel regularly during the war, as well as sending her souvenirs from France, such as a handkerchief and cloth case.
