Description:Postcard sent on 15 December 1917 from Jack to Ethel. It has a silk mesh insert which is decorated with embroidered foliage and flowers in green, yellow and purple. "To my Sister" is embroidered in yellow. The silk mesh insert forms a pocket which has a card inside printed with a view along a lane towards a cottage and the words "To my dear Sister". This is known as an insert card.
This card was sent to Ethel May Harrison (nee Tims). She had two brothers, Jack and Fred, who were both killed in action in World War One. They are named on the Leamington Spa War Memorial. They wrote to Ethel regularly during the war, as well as sending her souvenirs from France, such as a handkerchief and cloth case.
