Description:Postcard sent from Fred to Ethel on 6 March 1918. It has a silk mesh insert which is decorated with embroidered flags of Belgium, the USA, Great Britain and Portugal. An aeroplane has been embroidered above the flags and flowers in blue, white and red are embroidered below. "REMEMBRANCE FROM A SOLDIER" is embroidered in pale blue. The silk mesh insert forms a pocket which has a card inside printed with a street scene and "Best Kiss". This is known as an insert card.
This card was sent to Ethel May Harrison (nee Tims). She had two brothers, Jack and Fred, who were both killed in action in World War One. They are named on the Leamington Spa War Memorial. They wrote to Ethel regularly during the war, as well as sending her souvenirs from France, such as a handkerchief and cloth case.
