Description:

Metal curling tongs belonging to Warwickshire sculptor Alma Ramsey. The ends of the tongs would have been heated on a fire or other source of heat. A strand of hair was then wrapped around them and held there to curl it. The tongs are blackened at the end that was held in the heat and there are corrosion spots.
