Description:Claremont House, Mill Lane (now Castle Road), Studley. 1900s

A correspondent to the website has added the following:
"I was fortunate enough to spend part of my childhood and early adult years living in Claremont House from 1968-1985. It was a wonderous place to live. It had two substantial living rooms, a dining room and a large kitchen area, all linked by a wide L-shaped flagstone-floored hallway. It was very cold in Winter, but very cool at the height of Summer. It was a bit of a money-pit at first, requiring a completely re-tiled roof, the structural timbers being treated for dry rot, and it had to be completely re-wired. One of the living rooms formed part of a doctor's surgery, (I don't know when, unfortunately). The Cygnet Players of Studley held their rehearsals in the Methodist hall ground floor/ basement, next door to Claremont House."
