Richard Bankes Harraden lived first in London and then in Paris, where he stayed until the eve of the French Revolution in 1789. Returning to England, he established himself in Cambridge as an illustrator of architectural and picturesque views, occasionally working with his father, Richard Harraden. He exhibited work at the British Institution and his work remains popular and is held in a number of public collections.
