Description:A nineteenth century Japanese carved figure of Buddha standing on a lotus throne with a flaming 'glory' or mandorla forming the background.

His right hand is raised in mudra of reassurance and his left hand in discourse and charity. The figure is made from bronze coloured gilded wood with an ornate hexagonal panelled base.
