Date:1770
Description:An eight day automated musical Grandfather clock, 1770, by the Deacon family of Barton-In-The-Beans, Leicestershire.
The clock strikes every hour on a single bell and the musical train plays seven tunes, one for every day of the week, and a Methodist hymn on Sunday. The days are counted by small pointers on the dial. As the tune plays the figures in the arch of the dial play their instruments and beat time to the music and the seven tunes are played on eleven bells. The clock once stood in the Reference Library.
