Date:1918
Description:This rifle is a 13mm Mauser T Gewehr, an anti-tank rifle.
15,800 of these rifles were made by Mauser in 1918. It was nicknamed the 'Elefant-buchse' (Elephant gun) by the army and was not much liked because of it was very heavy and had a severe recoil.
The weight of the rifle is 37 pounds without it's bipod. A Spandau, M.08/15 light machine gun bipod was usually fitted. The overall length of the gun is 66.6 inches with a barrel length of 38.75 inches.
The cartridge has a 92mm long rimmed case and fires a 809 grain pointed boat-tailed bullet with a hardened steel case, at 2,575 feet per second. The bullet penetrated tank armour of the time very successfully. The ammunition was loaded by Polte werk.
