Description:This pair of shoemaker's pliers were used at W. Smith and Son, Boot Makers. The pliers have serrated pincers for holding the leather and are stamped on the side with the maker's mark, 'Horne And Co. / 3 / London'.
In 1875, William Smith bought the shoe shop at 58 Bath Street, Leamington Spa, where he had been apprenticed. He ran the shop until his death in 1929, when he was succeeded by his son Cecil. For 17 years until its closure in 1956, the shop was run by Muriel Smith, Cecil's wife.
