Description:
Black and white photograph at the Royal Pump Rooms, Leamington Spa, 1963.
The photograph shows a group of six children and three attendants in the pool. Two other children are entering the pool in wheelchairs, assisted by an attendant. The therapeutic pool was used at the Royal Pump Rooms from the late 1940s. Patients received treatment for problems caused by polio and arthritis. From the 1970s an increasing number of people injured in road traffic accidents were treated in this way. The therapeutic pool was situated where the Art Gallery is now.
